Pre-operative guidelines

Preparation for your surgery is an important part of the overall process. Strict adherence to the advices given before the procedure helps minimise post-operative bruising and swelling as well as speed up the recovery process. Below, you will find general pre-operative guidelines. Dr. Tamme will give you additional advice according to your individual needs and the specific procedure.

Refrain from smoking for at least 14 days before your operation. It would be best to quit smoking entirely, you would be doing your looks and your health a huge favour.
For 14 days before the surgery, do not take blood-thinning medication containing acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin, Thrombo ASS, etc.) or ibuprofen.
Some natural preparations taken in large amounts also have a blood-thinning effect (gingko biloba, ginger, garlic).
It is recommended to stop taking natural supplements and fish oil products 14 days before the surgery.
Make sure that you have the necessary wound care supplies and painkillers (Paracetamol, Dolmen) on hand at home.
Have a couple of days worth of food in your house (light protein-rich diet, fruit, juices, purées).
On the evening before your surgery, take a shower and wash your hair. For a few days before the planned surgery, do not use hair dye or other chemical haircare products.
On the morning of your surgery, take the regular medications prescribed by your doctor with a little water. If you have any questions concerning this, contact our clinic in advance.
Do not apply makeup, perfume or creams on the day of the surgery.
When dressing for your visit, choose clothing that doesn't have to go over your head and would effectively hide possible wound dressings as well as bruising and swelling in the face area (hood, shawl and sunglasses).
Do not take any valuables with you when coming in for your surgery.
Take your regular medications, hygiene supplies and test results that you have on hand with you.
